It's a challenge for Australia to break new ground.

The highest peaks have already been conquered.

This is the squad that has claimed seven Cricket World Cups, along with an additional six T20 titles, and once went over three years unbeaten in 50-over cricket.

The alternative records, targeted by the peak baggers, are what's still available for a squad that has won it all.

That it took until Sunday's three-wicket win over India for them to accomplish their maiden ODI chase over 300, taking back their record for the biggest in the women's 50-over format, is, in truth, a compliment to the pitchers that have represented Australia over five decades.

It's difficult for their hitters to maintain a record if not provided the opportunity.

Finally, the outcome of Australia allowing 330 runs was skipper Alyssa Healy receiving an opportunity to produce her newest gem.

Originally famous as the young family member of renowned former Aussie wicketkeeper Ian, she made her debut in 2010 after Australia didn't secure either of the 20 or 50-over World Cups conducted earlier and has experienced everything through 15 successful years since.

Success in the T20 World Cup arrived three months after her first appearance and seven global championships have resulted from 10 attempts across formats.

The determined wicketkeeper was in attendance in Derby in 2017 when a last-four loss by India temporarily stopped the successful run.

That loss "motivated us to rethink our standards," Healy commented earlier.

At the following one-day championship in New Zealand, Healy hit 170 against England in the championship match and was awarded tournament MVP. She ensured her country would not fail again.

Whether this latest epic knock topped that previous effort is debatable.

Many contend the reasoning behind championship match pressure. Different voices suggest with the challenge that comes when pursuing an unprecedented total and a raucous India-supporting crowd of 20,000.

What is certain is this ton was considerably tougher to predict.

The New Zealand onslaught in 2022 occurred when she topped the run-scoring charts, but this innings came after six matches in India since the start of last month in which she had been unable to reach 30.

"For those following me in practice sessions, it was a frustrating experience because I feel like I've had no rhythm at all," commented Healy.

"But once you take the field, your competitive instincts kick in and you completely engage with the contest."

Healy's competitiveness has always been her major advantage - and an invaluable trait in replacing legendary former captain Meg Lanning.

She was challenged by India's promising player Kranti Gaud in recent ODI series, fallen to the emerging pace bowler in all three matches, but this time it merely gave Healy's spark.

A single was taken off the opening delivery and from that point the batsman was underway.

"The possibility to take the field and lock in a contest with her and just have a bit of fun that way, somewhat inspired me," stated Healy.

She achieved fifty in 35 deliveries - her swiftest at a World Cup - and her ton in 84 as she punished short deliveries, hitting 21 fours and three maximums.

Once she was out Australia needed 66 additional runs at a run-a-ball - a manageable total now needing a comfortable finish.

"Chasing 330 runs is uncharted waters so I am glad we have the confidence to accomplish that now," continued Healy.

"Hopefully we don't have to do it another time but, if necessary, we are confident we can achieve it."

These statements will be the final thing rival teams at this championship should hear.

During the last week a feeling they will triumph from any situation has only strengthened - this triumph following victory over Pakistan by 107 runs despite sitting at 76-7 at one stage.

Subsequently Australia meet Bangladesh before a match against longtime competitors England in Indore in 10 days, by which point a last-four spot may likely be confirmed.

It was in the semi-finals they left the prior year's T20 World Cup in an unexpected loss by South Africa - a match Healy couldn't play because of torn tissue in her foot as she led her country for the first time at a significant event.

Such is her determination, she subsequently stated she wished she had played through the pain.

Yet even as she later admitted those fitness problems have pushed back thoughts of retirement, this tournament is expected to be her last as captain in one-day cricket and she is yet to win a global event as skipper.

Success in India would bring her to the top of her final mountain.
